The Eighth Regiment Connecticut Volunteers, Co.A, Inc.
is a living history organization,
formed to portray a Union infantry company of the
Eighth Regiment Connecticut Volunteers during the American Civil War.
The purpose of our unit is to educate both members and public alike, and
in so doing promote our Civil War heritage.
We are the Eighth Regiment Connecticut Volunteers, Company A, Inc., a non-profit living history organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of our Civil War heroes. Our latest project focuses on the Hill's Point Battery, where our soldiers played a pivotal role during the Siege of Suffolk in 1863. This site, rich in history, deserves to be remembered and honored. We are raising $3,500 to install an interpretive Civil War Trails marker that will educate visitors, preserve history, and keep their legacy alive. Your support can make a real difference. Please share this post and donate to help us reach our goal and honor the brave men who fought for our country. Thank you!

We have also created a history page with detailed resources to understand the Hill's Point Battery history during the Siege of Suffolk, April 11 to May 4, 1863.

A Little About the Eighth Conn.Vols.
The Eighth Regiment Connecticut Volunteers, Company A, Inc. is an
organization of people interested in the American Civil War,
and the hobby of living history and re-enacting. We portray a three year infantry
regiment from our native Connecticut.
They had a truly honorable service record. We strive for a very accurate portrayal
of the unit, the times, and the first-person impressions of characters we research.
Our organization conducts on-going research on the 8th Conn. Vols. and continuously
improves our impressions accordingly.
We normally are active from early April til late October during the re-enactment
season, but also conduct many off-season activities, such as winter tacticals,
company drills, discussion groups, recruitment activities, and public living
history displays.
More Of Our 8CV Story...
We travel for many of these summer events to several historic locations
from Virginia to New England, and have fought on original battlefields,
garrisoned original forts, and have had events on and near many National
Parks and Battlefield Monuments. We also participate in a good share of
community based events, such as local Connecticut and New England
re-enactments, march in local parades, and participate in local living
history events.
We are always interested in new membership inquiries, and encourage anyone
with an interest in history, the Civil War, and the shaping of this nation,
to contact us for more information on how to get involved in a very
rewarding and unique hobby and organization.
